This will be my second trip to this exciting and fascinating country. The previous trip we covered the northern-west terrain, while this time we will travel southwards from Tehran to Shiraz.

Iran, historically known as Persia, is a land with many diverse landmarks. Along the way, we’ll get to visit many big UNESCO sites. With its unique architecture of shrines, churches, mosques, spectacular gardens, awesome museums, authentic cuisines and also many friendly people there, we’ll get to immerse and expose ourselves in another different culture and lifestyle which we seldom have got chance to experience with.

This trip will take us to the beautiful, exotic, unspoiled Nagar/Hunza Valley in the Northern Pakistan during Autumn. Our journey will begin from a drive from Islamabad to Karimabad, then passing along lush green alpine meadows, remote cultural village, towering snow capped peaks, and pristine lakes, and drive through the scenic Karakoram HW and the Khunjerab Pass which comes near to the border of Pakistan & China. View the Windsor nature park, covering at least 2 trails (Drongo and Squirrel) on the first one-third of the walk. Nice place to watch squirrels and birds, and lots of ‘longkang’ fishes in the streams. Local kampong trees like coconut, durian and rambutan trees are all left over from former farm owners.

View different flora and fauna of primary to secondary forest, experience the 250m suspended bridge, learn some giant trees on the way down the slope, see some long tailed macaques, a variety of birds and witness some natural flora around the forest streams. Know what ‘tongkat ali’ tree looks like and be surprised that chempedak fruit tree also found in the forest. If time persists, we can visit a big cluster of rubber trees at Venus link – used to provide work for residents as rubber-tapping were jobs in the 50s and 60s.

What to bring/wear: Rain coat, insect repellent, drink and snacks. Wear light and use covered walking shoes.

The main event for the night is the 55KM Cycling ride that begins at the Resort and turnaround at East Coast Water Venture (27.5km one-way). At a height of 510m, this hill is located in Kluang in Johor (W. Malaysia). It takes under 2hours to reach it from Singapore.

It takes not more than an hour and a half to ascend to the summit. From the summit, it takes over 1 hour to reach the Giant Tree, after which it will be a short trek out to the end point with showering facilities.

For this trek, we will be departing on a Saturday morning (before 8am) and returning to Singapore on the same day evening. A restaurant dinner at Kluang will be provided before the journey back to Singapore.

Admiralty Park is a 20-hectare nature park located in Woodlands. It covers a hilly terrain with Sungei Cina river running through it. There is a mix of primary forest, mangrove, riverine and open grassland habitats. This park has more than 100 species of flora and fauna; including dragonflies, monkeys and birds. Good area to spot weaver bird nests, monitor lizards or even climbers like the hedgehog rattan, etc. Participants will also enjoy the newly developed mangrove park which is beside Sungei Cina. If time persists, we will walk across to Woodlands Waterfront – to view JB water front and Straits of Johore.

Yip Seck Hong just back from a challenging 2 week trek around Manaslu (8163m), the eight highest peak in the world, first climbed by the Japanese in 1956. The high point of the trek was a 12 hour hiking day where we crossed the 5106m Larkya Pass. He will gave a talk on this trip and show some of the 2000 plus photos he took on this trek.

Join us for this 1 day cooling getaway from the hustle and bustle city life. Pelepah Waterfalls cascades are located in the nearby Kota Tinggi area. We will start the trek in the morning nearby Kota Tinggi waterfalls. A leisurely 3 hours of water-trekking to bring us to the waterfalls where we can laze around and have some fun. The terrain is pretty challenging, where you need to scramble and climb on the soft slopes along the way, walking along the slippery rock face, bouldering on the sides. Please be prepared to be gusty and willing to sprawls some legs to grip onto the rock edges. Someway along the way, we can also enjoy some good "current-cascading" shoulder massage. If fine weather permits, we will explore a cave behind the waterfalls along the way, and try your hands catching prawns and shrimps in the river.

Fitness requirement at least done hiking in Bukit Timah or Gunung Lambak. Unfit or very slow hiker will hold up the group and not achieve objective to find sources of the river. If unsure please call Tan Yee Lee for clarification.

Netherlands – a flat landscape country with almost half of its area below the sea level, is an ideal place to explore on 2 wheels. With its beautiful countryside, we will cover both the Northern and Southern region, on 2 wheels past scenic rivers, farmlands, medieval castles, classic windmills, 18th century wealthy Dutch mansions, traditional fishing harbour and villages, old historic town centers, crisscrossed canals, and also get some glimpse of the groundbreaking architecture buildings, along the breezy coastline with its unique protective dunes and dykes under sea-level etc. During our stay in springtime, be amazed by the bold spectacle of vivid colours of tulips and flowery landscape.

In celebration of 55th anniversary of Singapore Adventurers' Club, we will ride a distance of 55km from Marina Barrage to Anchorvale C.C., with stopover at NSRCC, Changi Village, and Lor Halus. We will ride along park connector most of the way, at rolling speed of 17-20 km/h.

Please note that, while there will be lead rider and sweeper, this is not a supported ride, meaning that the rider must carry all necessities like spare inner tube, water bottle by themselves throughout the ride. Also, rider must wear helmet and covered shoes. Use of electric powered devices is disallowed and use of shared bicycle is discouraged.

Hiking at Chestnut Nature Park (northern loop)

This newly opened Chestnut Nature Park (northern loop) is the largest nature park to-date, covering 64 hectares of land. There are designated separate trails for hiking and biking; the trail heads under the scenic grove of trees lead to a clearing area where an observation tower, Chestnut Tower, is built. The 8-storey tower gives you a panoramic view of trees top and nearby housing estate. We will also cover undulating terrain to look for durian trees and remnants of old kampong buildings. The highlights include the bustling stream, cluster of pandan and ginger plants, not forgetting the biggest number of simpoh trees at a single park. Learn at least 20 flowers, shrubs, and trees along the trails.

Bell Mountain and Chiang Khan

Bell Mountain, 1,288m is in Phu Kradung National Park - reputed to be one of Thailand's most romantic spots. It is a 3-hour trek to the summit and we will see many lovely waterfalls and cliffs. As we enjoy the gorgeous scenery, we also hope to savour sunrise and sunset from the mountain. When you realise that Kradung means bell, it will be no surprise that the mountain is indeed bell-shaped. The challenge of this mountain is a steep but not so difficult 5km trail up from the foothill to the summit. It will take you 4 to 5 hours, ascending about 1000m, passing through a long and interesting trail that with many food & drink stalls. The summit is such another interesting place that comes with pre-built tents and many restaurants.

The park is largely covered with seasonal tropical rain forest and evergreen forests. The 60 square km (mountain top) plateau is a savanna of pines, oak, beech, etc. There are elephant, barking deer and many bird species in the park. Good news for those of you who don't enjoy being waterlogged, there is normally almost no rain during December to February.

Note: if time permit we will stop by Lopburi Province to see the Sunflowers field.

The Kampong trail covers a few trails; Pandan, Rifle Range, Nangka and Durian Loop. The trail covers the abandoned farms which include many fruit trees, uneven grounds and streams. Also see a stream where villagers once showered, did their laundry and collected water. See and learn at least 10 local trees and shrubs along the trail. If time persists, we will cover Hindhede Nature Park.

The charms of the Himalaya along with its mysteries gradually unfold as trekkers traverse through the dense forests and verdant landscape, through miles of green-carpeted meadows and sleepy hamlets lost in time. The Sandakphu -Singalila trek as it’s popularly called will enable you to discover the Sublime Himalayan interiors unmarred by mankind.

Sandakphu Phalut Singalila Ridge Trek is defined as one of the most Scenic Treks in the Eastern Himalayas. Singalila Ridge is the only place in the entire eastern Himalayas from where one can view the Four Highest Mountains in the world. V.i.z. Mt.Everest, Makalu, Lhotse & Kanchenjunga.

Moderate to Easy Trekking, this trek is relatively easy for seasoned Trekkers. Trekkers carry only their day packs with their personal Items in them and walk at their own pace. The main baggage will be carried by the ponies / porters.

Accommodation will be provided in comfortable Trekkers Huts and Private lodges wherever available along the trekking trail.
